Campground Host - Point Supreme Campground

Opportunity Description:

Cedar Breaks National Monument is seeking friendly, responsible, and service-oriented volunteers to serve as Campground Hosts at Point Supreme Campground. This is a rewarding opportunity to live and volunteer at over 10,000 feet in a beautiful high-elevation setting while supporting visitors. 

Primary Duties:

• Represent the National Park Service professionally at all times 
• Provide excellent visitor service and a welcoming presence in the campground 
• Check campers in and out using the recreation.gov system 
• Answer general questions about the campground and monument 
• Educate visitors about campground rules, regulations, and monument information 
• Maintain and update the campground dry-erase notification board 
• Perform light campground upkeep (clean fire pits, minor trash pick-up) 
• Notify maintenance staff or supervisor of facility or safety concerns 
• Record and submit volunteer hours and visitor contacts 
• Promote a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment 

Note: No restroom cleaning required. 

Length of Commitment:

• Dates: June 7 2027 – September 21 2027 (weather dependent) 
• Hours: 32 hours per week in exchange for a full-hookup RV site (water, electric, sewer) 

Tools, Equipment, and Vehicles:

• May operate a small campground vehicle for maintenance or ranger station access 
• Use basic hand tools (shovels, buckets, trash grabbers) 
• Training provided 

Campground Information:

Point Supreme Campground is a small, scenic campground with 25 reservation-only sites, operated entirely through recreation.gov. Any last-minute cancellations are immediately returned to the reservation system and may be booked same-day. 

Cedar Breaks National Monument is located in southern Utah and is within a few hours’ drive of numerous state and national parks, offering abundant recreational opportunities. 

Weather: High elevation (over 10,000 feet) means cool summer temperatures and rapid weather changes including rain, sleet, thunder and lightning, snow, and high winds. Shoulder seasons can be cold. 

Physical Requirements:

• Work outdoors at high elevation (10,000+ feet) 
• Sit or stand for extended periods 
• Moderate physical activity 
• Exposure to sun, wind, rain, snow, smoke, hail, and fluctuating temperatures 
• Must wear provided VIP uniform shirt/jacket and name badge while on duty 
• Volunteers supply neutral-colored pants (brown, khaki colored, or jeans during firepit cleanup) and appropriate footwear
