Keweenaw National Historical Park - Volunteer Workday

Description:

Keweenaw National Historical Park is a key visitor attraction for the Keweenaw Peninsula. Throughout the summer months, visitors routinely tour the area with the aid of established interpretive wayside exhibits and a self-guided brochure. The Calumet Visitor Center is the location for ranger-guided programs. This Volunteer Workday, volunteers will be helping with the young trees around the headquarters, visitor center, History Center, and the Italian Hall Memorial Park.

When arriving, park at the Keweenaw NHP Headquarters and proceed inside.

Please bring plenty of water in a reusable water bottle. Sunscreen and a hat are always recommended. Tools, gloves, and appropriate PPE are provided.

Duties:

Use hand tools to cut and clear vegetation and plant growth around the trees. Lay down new mulch around the base of the trees.

Clear vegetation and plant growth around historic building and landscapes.

Pick-up modern-day trash for disposal.

Minimum Time Requirement: 1-3 Hours

Minimum Age: 16 years
