Interpretive Operations Assistant - Wind Cave National Park

Join Wind Cave National Park as an Interpretive Operations Assistant and gain skills and experience in interpreting the first cave protected as a national park in the world!

Our Interpretive Operations Assistants will,

• Learn the fundamentals of interpretive programing and gain experience in applying interpretive principles through guiding cave tours.
• Assist with the operation of a historic visitor center and educate and inform visitors from around the world.

• On-site housing provided, provided you work 32 hours per week.
• Reimbursed grocery costs up to $400/month.
• Mileage costs reimbursed for travel to and around the park. ($0.235/mile for relocation to Wind Cave NP, then $0.76/mile up to 200 miles per month for local travel)
• Gaining valuable knowledge and skills for your future career with the National Park Service!

Requirements,

• 18 years of age or older.
• Be able to navigate narrow and low cave passageways and ascend/descend several hundred stairs per day. 
• Have your own vehicle for travel to and around the park.
• Be able to pass a background investigation.
• 32 Hours per week must be worked to live in government housing.
• Wear a provided uniform while on duty.
