Recreation Monitoring Volunteers help park managers understand how visitors use some of the park’s most popular areas during the busy season. Through objective observation, volunteers collect and record basic information about visitor use patterns, including visitor flow, activities, and the number of people and vehicles at designated locations.
This is a data collection role, and volunteers do not provide interpretation, education, or other visitor services. Instead, they focus on accurately documenting visitor use to support management decisions that improve access, safety, and traffic flow throughout the park.
Volunteers are asked to commit to at least 8 hours per month and should be comfortable standing and walking outdoors for 4 to 6 hours at a time, often in varying weather conditions.
