Garden Volunteer- Frederick W. Vanderbilt Garden Association

An official partner of the National Park Service, The Frederick W. Vanderbilt Garden Association (FWVGA) is a not-for-profit volunteer organization that maintains the formal gardens at Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site. Each year, the FWVGA plants thousands of annuals and cares for numerous perennials, rose bushes, and cherry trees in the gardens. FWVGA volunteers perform a full range of gardening activities, such as planting, watering, mulching, and weeding. They contribute thousands of hours each year while, performing incredible work to preserve the historic beauty of the Vanderbilt formal gardens. 

The FWVGA operates on a growing season schedule, generally April – November, weather permitting. Each week within the growing season, garden duties take place on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 8:30 AM – 12 PM. Volunteers are invited to give their time as their schedules permit during gardening sessions.
