Front Desk Volunteer

Location: Osceola District Office (Olustee, FL)

Commitment: Part-time (9:00 AM – 4:00 PM; flexible scheduling available)

Position Overview

The Osceola National Forest is seeking a professional and community-minded Volunteer Information Assistant to serve as the "Face of the Forest." This role is ideal for local residents who are passionate about Florida’s public lands and enjoy providing high-quality service to the public. As the first point of contact for our visitors, you will play a key role in facilitating safe and enjoyable forest experiences.

Primary Responsibilities

• Public Engagement: Greet visitors with a positive, welcoming attitude and respond to inquiries with accurate information.
• Information Services: Assist the public with questions regarding camping, hunting regulations, hiking, and seasonal forest conditions.
• Permit Processing: Provide guidance on obtaining firewood permits and other administrative requirements.
• Communication: Manage the front desk multi-line phone system, directing calls and taking messages as needed.
• Administrative Support: Maintain the professional appearance of the visitor center through light cleaning and organizing of the lobby and office areas.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Customer Service Excellence: Strong background in customer service or public relations is highly preferred.
• Local Knowledge: A general familiarity with the Osceola National Forest and local area is an asset.
• Professionalism: Ability to remain dependable, punctual, and helpful during high-traffic periods.
• Residency: This position is intended for local residents; no daily travel reimbursement is provided.
