**Volunteer Opportunity at Charles Young Buffalo Soldiers National Monument**

Join our team at the Charles Young Buffalo Soldiers National Monument (CHYO), where you can make a meaningful impact while sharing the monument’s rich with visitors from all walks of life! Volunteers are needed to support our growing landscape around the home and Victory Garden. A minimum of serving six-hours weekly is preferred, but schedules are negotiable based on weather and availability.

As a Garden Volunteer at our site, you will help to provide assistance to staff to plant and maintain the Victory Garden and various garden, tree, and plant related projects around the facilities and grounds at the CHYO. Work may require use of hand tools such as shovels, rakes, spades, hand clippers, etc. All project work that is physical in nature will be under the supervision of a qualified member of CHYO staff with times of unsupervised work while watering and/or harvesting the gardens.

We’re looking for friendly and reliable volunteers who enjoy working with the public and are eager to learn. You don't need prior experience—just a passion for history, gardening, and a commitment to providing exceptional care for our planted spaces! Training will be provided, covering everything from park policies to effective communication strategies. In return for your hard work, you’ll receive a volunteer uniform, opportunities for recognition, and qualify for an America the Beautiful Volunteer Pass after completing 250 hours of service within a year. Come be a part of our dedicated team, help enhance visitor experiences and contribute to preserving the legacy of the Buffalo Soldiers!
