Herpetology Survey

Palo Alto Battlefield is home to the vulnerable status Black Spotted Newt. Come out once a month to flip cover boards and see what you find! Most commonly you will see and report on reptiles, some amphibians, and arachnids.

General Duties:

• Flip coverboards
• Record sightings and upload data
• Use of snake hook

Please bring:

• Appropriate clothing for weather
• Wear boots
• Wear long pants
• Hat or cap
• Refillable water bottle

We will provide:

• Snake guards
• Snake hooks
