Interpretation and Education Volunteer 2026

Are you passionate about parks and public lands? Do you love sharing your passion for history and the outdoors with others? Are you looking to hone your people skills and work with excellent volunteers and park staff? Then the interpretation and education volunteer position is right for you! 

Wilson's Creek National Battlefield is seeking a dedicated volunteer who is willing to assist with our education programs and events throughout the spring, summer, and early fall seasons. The park generally receives about 100 school visits per year and tens of thousands of visitors to our site.

Responsibilities include learning about the Battle of Wilson's Creek and its role in the American Civil War in order to staff the Ray House and Bloody Hill. Responsibilities might include presenting pre-prepared programs, developing their own programs with staff assistance, and providing informal interpretation to visitors.

Volunteers who would like to participate in the historic weapons program will need to complete a separate application upon completion of onboarding for this position.

Hours of work are typically 2-4 hours a day, one day per week.
