Join us on Sunday September 27 between 9:00 am - 12:00 pm after White Sands National Park's September Full Moon Night special event to help the park breakdown the event space! As a volunteer, you'll have a chance to experience the vastness of the dune field while helping protect the park's fragile and important ecosystem. This is a great opportunity to contribute to protecting White Sands National Park and maintaining the beauty of our beloved park. Come join the fun and make a positive impact in the park!

Duties:

Assigned tasks will include assisting with the breaking down of the event space the morning after our September Full Moon Night event. This will include moving traffic cones, rolling up accessible walkway mats, picking up trash, and breaking down the event stage. There may be additional tasks assigned by the volunteer supervisor.

Skills needed/preferred:

Volunteers can expect to use their hands to lift, carry and relocate various set items. Volunteers must be able to lift items that weigh up to 30-50 pounds. Various tasks will be two-person jobs.

Working conditions:

Work will be done outdoors. Temperatures can start in the 65–75-degree Fahrenheit range but will increase as the morning progresses. The hope is to finish cleaning up before the temperature reaches 85 degrees. All volunteers will need to be able to operate at a comfortable pace and over uneven terrain to perform their duties. Frequent rest stops will be provided.

Training:

All volunteers will be given adequate training on the morning of the breakdown date. Volunteers may be asked to work alone. Personal protective equipment such as gloves and safety vests will be provided.

What to Bring:

Volunteers should bring water, snacks, and sun protection, including hats, sunglasses, and sunblock. Long-sleeved clothing is highly suggested and closed-toed shoes are required.
