The Santa Catalina Ranger District of the Coronado National Forest is seeking a Volunteer Camp Host for the Gordon Hirabayashi Campground. This campground is open from November 1st to April 30th and is located on the lower half of Mount Lemmon. Campground hosts are first and foremost a friendly face to the public. Volunteer camp host duties include;

  • providing information to campers,
  • showing visitors how to use the fee envelopes but never collecting money,
  • inspecting, cleaning, and restocking the bathrooms,
  • emptying trash and picking up litter,
  • checking campfire rings and removing ashes when campers leave, and
  • helping with minor maintenance projects.

This campground is located at mile post 7.3 on the Catalina Highway, elevation about 4800 ft. The volunteer camp host position includes a host camp space with hookups. Water is a 350 gallon potable water tank and the site is solar powered with a battery bank converted to a 30 amp hookup. Host spot can accommodate a 31ft trailer or camper.
