National Capital Parks – East is excited to offer unique SkillBridge opportunities for transitioning military service members interested in environmental stewardship, history, and working with the public!


The Park Guide position places you at the heart of the National Park Service mission to engage guests through interpretive talks, guided tours, and other essential visitor services. Key duties include delivering presentations highlighting park sites' natural and historical significance, answering visitor questions, and facilitating enriching experiences for large groups (up to 50 people). Additional responsibilities include locating missing items, handling minor vehicle issues, administering First Aid, and sharing current information about park events, safety conditions, and recreational opportunities. Park Guides may also support operations through crowd control, mentoring new staff, issuing permits, conducting assessments of natural areas, and participating in emergency response teams such as Search & Rescue or fire suppression (depending on qualifications).


This position is perfect for SkillBridge candidates seeking meaningful experience outside their service, leadership development, and a chance to continue serving the public in a dynamic and mission-driven environment. Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license and be comfortable working both indoors and outdoors.
