Loon Lake Campground Administration

The Bureau of Land Management's Loon Lake Recreation Site is located in the heart of Oregon's Coast Range at an elevation of 392 feet, just 20 miles east-southeast of Reedsport, Oregon. Loon Lake Recreation Site is one of the Coast Range's few recreation areas with a warm, sandy beach. The lake is perfect for swimming, fishing, boating, and other water activities. The site offers a campground and day use area. Loon Lake Recreation Site's operating season is from Memorial Day weekend to September 30th. The Coos Bay District Office in North Bend, OR manages Loon Lake Recreation Site.

Host is required to work five days a week and approximately 32 hours as assigned. Couples may divide the hours the hours if both are volunteering:

· Clean and stock restrooms multiple times a day

· Pick up litter along roadways, parking areas, day use area and campground

· Shovel fire pits (when sites are open and or needed)

· Assist with cleaning interpretive panels, benches and other amenities

· Perform maintenance and support duties as assigned at the Loon Lake Campground

Management Support and Site Presence

· Manage the arrival/departure reservations and placards in the campground.

· Inform BLM staff and law enforcement of violations, emergency needs and other circumstances that require attention. 

• If cleared by management, volunteer may assist in pass sales.

The volunteer is not responsible for enforcement.

· Work cooperatively with BLM staff and properly use communication device such as radios etc...

· Provide accurate information to the public.

· Assist and participate in the Loon Lake interpretive programs.

Additional requirements for Volunteer

· Provide trailer, 5th wheel, or motorhome for personal accommodation.

· Reside and fit in host site and stay on site during assigned days.

· Pets must be kept on a leash or otherwise physically restricted. You are responsible for cleaning up after your pet and its behavior. No more than 2 dogs are permitted.

· Attend volunteer training as requested or required by the volunteer supervisor such as basic first aid and CPR

· Must have personal vehicle for personal needs and a valid driver’s license for site host duties

· Wear proper footwear and must be able to walk on a daily basis throughout the campground and perform duties in all weather conditions

· Days will be scheduled by Park Manager

Amenities:

• Host site is next to administration building.
• Electric, water and sewage hookups are provided. Host may be off site or stay on site during days off.
• A travel stipend $340 is provide for each month of volunteer work. (Payment of funds may be delayed by government shutdowns or other events unforeseen events.)
