Ghosts of the Past event

Arkansas Post National Memorial is scheduling the Ghosts of the Past Event for Saturday, October 17^th from 3pm-7pm.

The program portrays prominent people and events that took place here at Arkansas Post through multiple stationary stops around the park lake. 

*We need of volunteers as guides to bring the public around at scheduled times.

*We need volunteers to portray 18^th or 19^th century professionals, fur trappers, townspeople, writers, and soldiers.

Possible people of note that will be portrayed:

William Woodruff, Printer and founder of the Arkansas Gazette 

Mary John, a renowned African American cook and entrepreneur that purchased her freedom and began a well know restaurant and inn

Anderson Rush, a man born into slavery here and went on to become a Civil War soldier, legislator, teacher, and policeman.

A naturalist, Thomas Nuttall and James Audobon traveled through here in 1819 and 1820 respectively.  

We have an array of historical attire here at the park for the historical vignettes. 

Guides may wear historical attire, or we have volunteer uniform t-shirts. 

Dialogues for our participants and pamphlets for our guides will be provided. 

The historical station stops are brief, mostly 3-5 minutes.
