Volunteers will provide informal interpretation of the lives and experiences of HBC employees and U.S. Army soldiers who lived at either Fort Vancouver (ca. 1829-1860) or the Vancouver Barracks (ca. 1849-1892), by presenting artillery and/or musket firing demonstrations while dressed in appropriate period clothing. VIPs will interact with visitors and groups in a professional manner. VIPs will assist the park staff in monitoring visitor safety and resource protection, which may include marking the firing range for historic weapons demonstrations. VIPs may also present formal interpretive programs to visitors.
